WELCOME!

NolanErin WilliamsWelcome to the ESSMC E-Newsletter. In keeping with our theme of staying connected with patients, friends and families, we have decided to profile Erin Williams in this edition of the newsletter. Many of her former patients from the Murrysville office ask about her and we thought it would be a nice idea to get everyone updated. Congratulations to Erin and Peter on the birth of their son Nolan five months ago. They have fond memories of their time in the ‘Burgh and hope to visit sometime soon.

Editor’s Note: ESSMC lost a bet with Erin last year when the Senators beat the Pens, so we got paybacks this year! Go Pens – all the way to the Cup!

We welcome feedback on topics that you might have a special interest in, or any other question that you may have. Please email us at news@essmc.com and we will get right back to you. Enjoy this edition, and don’t forget the quiz.

This is the 17th year that we have presented the course to aspiring students. Larry Cooper, ATC, is the coordinator and all of our staff provide both lecture and hands-on instruction.

Where Has Your Rehab Taken You?
Students from Slippery Rock University Tony DiEmidio (foreground on the ladder) and friend, Sara Hannah (shown sporting her ESSMC t-shirt), along with a group of fellow students from Slippery Rock University spent their spring break working with the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana Office of Disaster Response helping victims of Hurricane Katrina. The students spent seven days (March 5-12th) in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans—the area hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina.

They were housed in St. Andrew’s Chalstrom Parish House, a house donated for use by volunteers for relief work. Some of their job duties included scraping, sanding and repainting houses; hanging, priming, sanding and painting drywall; installing cabinets, floor tiles and baseboards. ESSMC supported this venture financially and we are proud of this great group of young people. Tony is the son of Cindy DiEmidio, who works in our Penn Hills office.

As a special incentive, we will give an Atria’s gift card to the first five people who submit a photo sporting our brightly colored t-shirts and spreading the word of our good work in interesting places. Please send us a picture with a brief caption describing where you have been photographed and what you were doing at the time.
