WELCOME!
Hello and welcome to the ESSMC E-Newsletter. We know that Steeler Fever has been in high gear, and we hope that everyone enjoyed the season and the playoffs. It sure does help make winter go by fast. Heck, we're almost to the middle of February, with spring right around the corner!
We are moving ever closer to our 25th anniversary, which will be celebrated in May. In advance of that, we will be having a Grand Re-Opening of our Monroeville office on March 3rd. We hold the relationships with our patients and colleagues in the highest regard, and we trust that you are well. We are your resource for physical therapy, so when the need arises, we will be happy to be of service to you.
We welcome feedback on topics that you might have a special interest in, or any other question that you may have. Please email us at news@essmc.com and we will get right back to you. Enjoy this edition — and don’t forget to take the quiz! |

Paul Conrad, a longtime patient and track coach, traveled to Florida over the holidays and submitted these beautiful photos. He says, “During Christmas vacation, my wife, Lynne, and I spent time in Florida visiting my mother-in-law who lives just outside of Jacksonville. We took a trip to St. Augustine on New Year's Eve. While in St. Augustine, we visited The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Augustine, the oldest parish in the United States. The church is beautiful, and I recommend a visit to anyone who happens to be in the area. I always wear my ESSMC shirt whenever and wherever I travel. On my previous visit, a gentleman approached me and said he was originally from Plum, Pa., and knew exactly where the office is located. It really is a small world.”
Thanks, Paul, for being an ESSMC diplomat! Check out the photos.
As a special incentive, we will give an Atria’s gift card to anyone who submit a photo sporting our brightly colored t-shirts and spreading the word of our good work in interesting places. Please send us a photo with a brief caption describing where you have been photographed and what you were doing at the time.

Fish oil has gained popularity in the past few years for its natural anti-inflammatory properties and cardiac health benefits. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) are widespread in America, and the medical community is promoting healthier living by making fish oil part of the dietary recommendations.
Read the article on our web site’s What’s New page, and be sure to submit your quiz answer.
Which of the following is a false statement?
- The American Heart Association recommends eating fish (particularly fatty fish) at least two times a week.
- Fish is a good source of carbohydrate.
- Research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids decrease risk of arrhythmias that lead to cardiac arrest, and decrease triglyceride levels.
- Santonio Holmes is the reigning Super Bowl MVP!
The first 10 people with the correct answer will receive a $10 gift card to Panera Bread. Reply via email at news@essmc.com with the correct answer to receive your gift card. Include your name, mailing address (so we don’t have to look it up!), and, of course, the correct answer.
Good luck!
