Excitement is in the air as we introduce our new logo! You will see the logo pictured on all of our ads and t-shirts, and for the first time we are doing ball caps at the request of many patients, especially those who have an ample supply of t-shirts. Remember…
“New Look, but Same Great Service!”

| Our Athletic Training Division is excited to announce the implementation of a highly successful injury prevention and performance enhancing program called the "PEP" program at two of our local high schools. The name stands for Prevent injury and Enhance Performance. The introduction of this dynamic program has been well received by both coaches and student athletes. Both Gateway and Plum Senior High Schools have instituted the program with their girls soccer programs. We concentrate on female athletes due to their increase incidence of ACL injuries. The program will be expanded over the next two seasons and we will be introducing it to all other local high schools that express an interest in the program. We will also be targeting girls basketball due to their high incidence of knee injuries. For more information, contact Head Athletic Trainer, Chris Klekker, at klekkeratc@comcast.net, or by calling 412-856-8060. |

ESSMC is proud to support two sports-focused fundraisers by sponsoring 5k road races in the Plum and Murrysville communities. The inaugural Stampede in the Park, promoted by the Plum Cross Country and Track team boosters, was a huge success raising money for cancer research and for the booster club. The annual Beat the Heat Race, promoted by the Franklin Regional Soccer boosters, will be run on Saturday, August 18th at Sloan School.

Student Athletic Trainer Workshop a huge success!
This year's student athletic trainer workshop was attended by 16 students and represented five local school districts in the eastern suburbs. It is the 16th consecutive year that ESSMC along with the Certified Athletic Trainers from Penn Trafford, Gateway, Penn Hills and Plum High Schools have teamed up to present a three-day workshop to introduce students to the fundamentals necessary for functioning as a student athletic trainer. Once they have completed this workshop, they can apply the valuable knowledge and skills they have acquired by assisting their school's Certified Athletic Trainer provide quality health care to its student athletes. Many students pursue careers in the health professions as a result of the exposure to concepts of sports medicine taught at the workshop. For more information, contact Larry Cooper, ATC, at coopatc@aol.com or by calling 724-327-7099.

Our trademark t-shirts have been spotted in some very interesting places over the years. We would like to know where you may have been sporting our brightly colored t-shirts and spreading the word of our good work.
Please send us a picture with a brief caption describing where you have been photographed and what you were doing at the time.
Our friend Jack Carl sure gets around. This time he’s in Green Bay, Wisconsin checking in on the Vince Lombardi Hall of Fame and giving a pep talk to Brett Favre and the boys. It sure does not look like football weather there… no frozen field and sub-zero game time temperature.
Where’s your cheese head Jack?
