Welcome to the third edition of the ESSMC E-Newsletter. You are receiving this newsletter as a former patient or family member of a patient. It is our intention to stay connected with those that have received services in our practice over the years. We have always prided ourselves on being good communicators with our patients and referring physicians, and this is another way for us to reach out. We will be providing you with updates about our practice, informative educational articles, and profiles of our staff so that you can get to know everyone.  We have had great feedback on the new logo that we introduced in the last newsletter! You will see the logo on all of our ads and t-shirts, and for the first time we are doing ball caps at the request of many patients, especially those who have an ample supply of t-shirts. Remember…

 We are happy to welcome Sara Tresco, DPT to our staff. Sara is the third physical therapist who was introduced to the profession as one of our high school volunteers from Plum High School, and she went on to graduate from Duquesne University. She is currently seeing patients in our Monroeville office.

 Response to our request for photos of our trademark t-shirts has been slow, so we will continue to share the travels of our friend Jack Carl. His work takes him to many very interesting places and he proudly displays our colors as he goes. The photo below was taken in a place far, far from Pittsburgh. According to the position statement posted on the ESSMC web site from the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA), which of the following is NOT a recommended measure to take in order to prevent the spread of community-acquired MRSA?
- Avoid sharing towels, razors and daily athletic gear.
- Launder athletic gear only once per month.
- Avoid whirlpools when open wounds, scrapes or scratches are present.
- Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer routinely.

I was born and raised in Trafford, PA. I’ve been married for 18 years and my husband and I reside in Harrison City.
Favorite thing about working in a PT practice:
Over my past 21 years with the practice, it would have to be all the people I have met — both patients and fellow staff members.
Favorite hobby:
Shopping with friends.
Favorite place to travel to and why:
Aruba is my favorite island. The island is more like a desert but the beaches are beautiful, the people are friendly, they have great restaurants, and of course, terrific shopping
Favorite memory as a child:
Learning to bake with my Grandmother and Mom. My Grandmother was the best nutroll maker. As she got older, I was the student and she was the “supervisor.” She recently passed away but I learned how to master the art of nutroll making!
Favorite color and the item I have that color:
My favorite color is blue. It is not so much an item that I have but I love the ocean and being at the beach. Seeing all the different shades of blue in the water is beautiful.
Favorite thing about Pittsburgh:
The sports teams, especially the Steelers. There are always exciting moments throughout the year with football, hockey and baseball. We are really blessed to have a city with such a variety of sports teams and such great fans.
