12.7.2001 Happy Holidays from all of us at ESSMC!!! 2001 has been a very busy and productive year for East Suburban Sports Medicine. We continue to grow and respond to the needs of our patients and referral sources. We thank you for your ongoing support and we remain committed to providing patients with a cost effective care focusing on optimal outcomes! 12.7.2001 East Suburban Sports Medicine goes International We are pleased to announce that Erin Williams, PT has joined our staff and she is working full-time in our Murrysville office. We recruited Erin from our neighbors to the North as she comes to us from Ottawa, Ontario having graduated in 2000 from the University of Western Ontario. With this addition to our staff, she and John Bonaroti, PT are now able to expand our schedule to include late afternoon/evening appointments four days per week. Patients are schedule in Murrysville 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Thursday and 7:30am to 4:00pm on Friday. 12.6.2001 Reporting on a Story Released in February The Penn Hills office which opened in February at Integrity Plaza in Penn Hills has been very well received by the physicians and community. To meet the growing needs of our patients, Mindy Palumbo, PT and Rick Jeletic, MPT have joined Angelo Tardio, PT over the past few months. These additions have enabled us to offer extended hours with a schedule similar to that described above for the Murrysville office. 12.6.2001 Good Just Got Better Thankfully the North Huntingdon office has continued to grow and we have now gone to two full time physical therapists in that office. Lori Bemesderfer recently restructured her schedule to be full time, complimenting Dave Reynolds, PT schedule. Look for an expanded late afternoon/evening schedule in January 2002! 12.5.2001 Home Base Remains Strong In the Monroeville office, Lori Wynn, MPT, filled the position that was vacated by Angelo Tardios relocation to the Penn Hills office in February. Lori works 3 afternoons per week joining Don Vargo, PT, Matt Gatesman, PT and Scott Wolovich, PT and she strengthens our late afternoon/evening appointment availability. 9.25.2001 Heat Illnesses by Chris Klekker, Riverview High School Athletic Trainer Heat-related illness has been a major concern for athletes participating in outdoor activities for years. Hot, humid conditions are one of the leading factors in dealing with environmental distress in athletes. On the other hand, athletes participating in gymnasiums that are poorly ventilated and not air-conditioned can also be vulnerable to heat illness. The major forms of heat illness are heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. All of these are 100% preventable. read more >> 9.24. 2001 Weight Loss for a Healthier and More Efficient Body Changes in body weight are dependent upon the amount of energy put into the body versus the amount of energy used by the body. For weight maintenance, the energy amounts must be equal. If there is an excess of energy put into the body, weight gain will result. If there is more energy burned than consumed, a weight loss will occur. read more >> 9.7.2001 ESSMC Sponsors Wagner House Golf Classic ESSMC is proud to be a lead corporate sponsor for the Wagner House Golf Classic. The event took place Monday September 10th at Greensburg Country Club, where 105 golfers enjoyed beautiful sunshine, great fellowship and lots of prizes and food! Wagner House Center for Children, located in Verona, PA, provides much needed educational and childcare services for the children of single parents. This enables the single parents to remain in the educational system, complete a designated curriculum, and become productive members of the community. To date Wagner House has served 14 families since 1998. Partners John Bonaroti and Angelo Tardio serve on the organizing committee. This is one of the many community based programs that ESSMC supports throughout the Eastern suburbs. For more information about Wagner House, call 412-856-4251. 9.7.2001 Denim Day for Breast Cancer Awareness ESSMC will honor Denim Day on October 5th as part of Breast Cancer Awareness. The staff will be in denim and displaying the pink ribbon of hope. Patients are encouraged to participate as well.
